Spring Cleaning

We've finally arrived at the pregnancy symptom Julie's been looking forward to the most: Nesting. Between it being Spring cleaning season and having all my hormones prepare for Katherine's arrival, I have started to "crave" cleaning for the first time in my life! Lately I've been waking up at 2 or 3 in the morning and can't sleep until I've worked for at least an hour or so on the house. Our house is still by no means perfect, but it's cleanest it's ever been! (...and probably the cleanest it ever will be)

Here are some pictures of our nursery, completely ready for Baby:

Mommy isn't the only one who's been "nesting." Daddy has also been hard at work building all kinds of great stuff for Katherine's arrival. He made the built in shelves (in the second picture behind the rocking chair),  made a shelf for the laundry room, and even built the frame for a wall in our basement!

We're all set, and ready to meet Katherine any day now! As we finish preparing our home, we also prepare our hearts to greet her with great love and joy.

Guess who!

We're at 38 weeks and Katherine could come any time now!

We're opening up the blog for a little game of Guess Who. Under comments, guess anything about the baby... What she'll look like, when she'll arrive, and any other predictions you want to make!

To up the stakes a little we're adding some incentive.... Whoever  gets the closest due date will get the first call when baby arrives!

Duck Duck Goose this SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!!! Who will be the victor?!

The last few weeks or even months of winter always seem to drag on with mundane patterns and life becomes, well, ordinary. So on this ordinary Sunday, the Koes, Romitos, Bernas, and Blocks gathered to break bread and share in a time of fellowship. What seemingly started out as an ordinary meal (because exceedingly amazing food is of course ordinary at the Berna residence) rouse to mayhem. How did this happen? Duck duck goose of course. Now some of you may question how a simple children's game could cause anything but well structured fun. Fortunately, this narrator has a step by step story for you.

Sure, this game started with the best of intentions...

But soon a wrestling match ensued. 

And at first Mommy thought she could take on the two boys, but Andrew had a good tackle

When Mommy got a hold of Andrew, Alex was quick to the rescue

Soon it was an all out brawl

With the boys taking charge.

Luckily as it turns out this is just an ordinary day with the Koes family and all was well

Now from this narrators perspective, it is clear that once the children have outnumbered the parents only one thing can come from it... a loving mayhem.

Ready, set, go!

The other week, Julie and I were watching a stand up comedian whom neither of us can remember; however, they did say one bit that I can only now be a living testament of. The idea of the skit was no matter how "cool" your car is or how much horsepower it has, once you install a car seat, the whole car's image changes. Although we may not win a car show with our wheels, we think our car has never looked better!

We are both really quite excited and are eagerly preparing for Katherine's arrival. Julie is 37 weeks and 2 days pregnant, which means we are 'full term', so any day now we could be giving you faithful readers a call letting you know that we are at Magee Hospital!

Tons of Fun!

Last weekend Grambie, Aunt Mary and Aunt Kari threw quite the shower for "our little peanut." There were pink elephants (Mommy's favorite) galore, lots of fun games, and more gifts than our house can handle!

There was a "book instead of card" theme for gifts, which helped us fill Katherine's library too. Katherine's closet is most certainly full now-- her clothes literally take up more space than Mommy and Daddy's combined! She has a larger dresser and her own closet, which are both full of clothes to dress her up in!

Thank you so much to all who helped, all who came, and all who were there in spirit! It made getting ready for our little one extra fun and special.

George the Giraffe

Mommy and Daddy aren't the only one's excited for Baby's arrival. Almost every night before bed we wind up the musical giraffe, George, that Oma, Opa and Aunt Mary Beth sent us early in the pregnancy. Sometimes Katherine even seems to dance along to the music (Brahm's Lullaby). We're sure George is excited to meet Katherine, and it will be interesting to see if Katherine recognize's George's "singing" outside of the womb!
