Kat and Cat

Today marks Katherine's 4 month birthday! She had an excellent checkup at the doctors, weighing in at 13lbs, 4oz and 25 1/2 in. The doctor said she looked great, and gave us hope that she should be sleeping better and better soon.

Our other big news is that we adopted a cat!! She's a 5 year old small female who is incredibly friendly. She loves to snuggle, so we're sure she'll fit in great with our family. :-) We haven't decided on a name yet, but we'll be posting options soon for readers to give us feedback on.

Birthday Bash

We had a blast celebrating Daddy's birthday tonight with our Pittsburgh family. We enjoyed lasagna, brownie cheesecake, and best of all the company.

Alex was happy to share big hugs with Katherine during the celebration:

One day isn't enough to tell Daddy how special he is. We're so proud of him, and love him so much! Many blessings to Ted this year.

Happy Birthday Daddy!!

Katherine is so excited about Daddy's birthday that she spent the whole night trying to celebrate. She even dressed like Elvis to sing for the occasion:

Unfortunately Katherine couldn't understand why we weren't interested in partying with her at 12, 2, 3 and 4:30 in the morning. We look forward to celebrating with Katherine and others throughout the weekend, and we will keep you updated on the festivities.

Living the "High Life"

Katherine has begun to sit in her highchair during meals sometimes. We don't offer her any foods yet, but she does enjoy playing with her spoons.

Katherine also has begun to greatly enjoy her exersaucer. She reaches for all the toys and entertains herself happily for several minutes.

Our favorite place for Katherine is still in our arms, but it's fun to watch her play and be interested in other spots as well!

Saturday Morning Fun

We got to play with cousin Luke this morning while Aunt Kari and Uncle Dante worked. Katherine had tons of fun with her big cousin, and hopes to play more soon!

Luke and Daddy went on a walk to see some chickens who live a couple blocks from us. The chickens' owner gave us an egg that Luke decorated.

Mooo-hoo!! It's Cow Appreciation Day!!

While driving home from work tonight, Mommy heard on the radio that today is "Cow Appreciation Day" at Chick-fil-A's nation wide. Anyone who dresses as a cow got a free meal, so we all threw together some cow costumes and drove to get some delicious food.

Our little calf joined in the fun too and was spotted in her cow swaddle cloth. It was a great way to kick off a fun weekend, and may even become an annual tradition..... :-)

Snoozers

We're all enjoying the long weekend, and were treated to Katherine sleeping in for us yesterday. You can tell she savored her sleep by her beautiful bed head:

As you can also see, Katherine loves George. She smiles when you hand him to her, and she nibbles on his antlers and ears with great interest. If we turn George's music on and put him across the crib she will often even roll over to reach him!

Katherine's new "explorer" stage helps us to find joy in the smallest pleasures, and we're incredibly blessed to have such a happy, wonderful baby. :-)
