It may have taken us several weeks past your birthday to actually post this blog, but we're just trying to extend your birthday wishes and blessings. ;-)

We hope every day of this whole year (and all the years to come) is filled with joy!

Happy St. Thomas Day

Happy St. Thomas Day to Daddy (Thomas is his Confirmation name), Grandpop, Uncle Tom, Alex (Alexander Thomas), and all the many Toms and Thomas in the world!

We've been doing a lot of feasting lately, so we don't have any extraordinary plans for today, but we want to recognize and celebrate today anyways. :-)

Alleluia! It was a true joy to welcome Marie into the Church family!! We were especially thankful to celebrate with our family and friends.

A special thanks to Marie's Godparents-- Aunt Mary and Uncle Casey, and to Grandpop for baptizing her.

We love you, Marie, and we can't wait to see you grow into the beautiful Daughter of God that you are!

Home Sweet Home!

We've been hard at work, getting our house more cozy to share with Oma, Opa, Aunt Mary Beth and Uncle Casey whenever they come up for Marie's baptism. Here are some of our recent renovations:

Moving the master bedroom to the first floor
Uncovering the built in china cabinet
Removing the kitchen wallpaper (by far this was the least pleasant task)
Painting our kitchen trim and walls
Repainting and decorating our guest room (now "Oma's room" with hopes that Oma and Opa will visit iften) ;-)
Re-organizing our entry way to make space for winter coats

On our list to finish this Spring/Summer:

• Drywall our upstairs bedroom ceilings + basement ceilings + remove drop ceiling in kitchen (we're leaving this one to professionals!)
• Paint our hallway trim
• Finish our brick patio in the backyard 
• Level some space in the backyard and grow grass
• Install built in seats/cabinets in the kitchen

Needless to say, we'll have no trouble keeping busy! We're incredibly grateful for the home we have, and blessed to enjoy living in it every day. It's a joy to see the home grow and change as we do too, and we're certainly learning a lot with each new project!!

Happy Birthday Uncle Tom!

Happy Birthday Uncle Tom! We were grateful to celebrate with Uncle Tom both on his Birthday and the day after with the Berna clan.



Katherine has learned Uncle Tom's name, and loves asking him to play with her. Katherine hopes this year is filled with fun and toys, and Marie hopes it's filled with lots of rest. We all hope it's Uncle Tom's best year yet!!

We were honored to help welcome Joshua into the Church family! It was very fitting that he was baptized on the Baptism of Jesus.

We pray that Joshua grows in grace every day, and that he continues to bless his family with love and hope.

Happy Anniversary Oma and Opa!!

Today Oma and Opa celebrate 40 wonderful years of marriage!! We look forward to celebrating their anniversary as a whole family when Oma, Opa, Aunt Mary Beth and Uncle Casey come to Pittsburgh in just a couple weeks.

Our whole family has been preparing for Oma and Opa's visit, and for a great Anniversary + Baptism celebration. Katherine has been practicing baking (and taste testing) the perfect cake:

She and Marie have also been working on cleaning up:

Mommy and Daddy have been hard at work cleaning up around the house too-- re-painting our guest room, taking down our kitchen wallpaper, and deciding which color to paint the kitchen. We can't wait to spend time with our Texas family!
