Happy Moments

Lately we have especially counted our blessings that Katherine is an extremely happy baby. As long as she is close to people, she is content doing almost anything. She is eager to try new things, and loves to watch people! She has a ready smile that melts our hearts, and usually only fusses with good reason.

Here are some happy moments we want to share with you...

Crawling (really scooching) through the tunnel at GG's:

Peek-a-boo!!

Enjoying a spin in the red wagon at Grambie and Grandpop's:

Katherine now giggles hysterically when you play peek-a-boo with her, and she's super ticklish under her chin. She smiles wide at "this little piggy" and has started to babble "mamamama" and "bababababa". Katherine makes every day brighter and constantly reminds us to "keep smiling!" :-)

Special Time

Since Daddy has class on Thursday afternoons, Katherine gets special Grambie time each week while he studies hard. Today Grambie took Katherine into town during Mommy's lunch and she got to enjoy the sights and sounds of Downtown. Here's Grambie and Katherine playing next to the fountains:

Katherine is sure lucky to be loved so much by her Grandparents! Just a couple weeks 'till we get to go visit Oma and Opa down in Texas too! Every day is a new adventure to explore, and Katherine sure makes every moment special. :-)

6 months is so much fun!

Hello, Everybody! Here's some updates from our "big" girl!

Katherine weighed in at 15lbs, 8oz, and 26 3/4in at her 6 month check up today! The doctor said she's growing well, and looks healthy.

Here Katherine is really enjoying her duck feet.

However, Katherine does not particularly understand what bubbles are or why they appear sometimes. She looks so cute disgruntled!

Recently our neighbors from across the street were so kind as to give us their infant play swing and Katherine really enjoys being swung.

The weather here has been so absolutely gorgeous that mommy and Katherine went for a hike while daddy played Schenley's disc golf course. Katherine was pooped by the end :-) so for now we bid you adieu.

Happy Birthday Aunt Mary Beth!!

Katherine thought long and hard about how to wish Aunt Mary Beth a happy birthday...
First she tried crawling all the way to Texas to see her:

Since Katherine can only scoot about 6 inches a minute, she decided that would take too long. She also tried rolling, knowing she's a fast roller:

But she soon got too dizzy. In the end, she decided to just make a blog post, and look as cute as she could:

She promises Aunt Mary Beth BIG hugs when we visit at Halloween, and hopes her Godmother has a wonderful, happy year!!

Happy Birthday with lots of love from Pittsburgh!! <3

Making Changes

This weekend has been a weekend of change for us. First, we decluttered our house and had a yard sale to "make some change." It felt great to get rid of clutter, and it will help us baby-proof our house as Katherine is quickly becoming more and more mobile and curious.

The bigger change we made this weekend is to move Katherine to her very own room, in her very own crib!! Mommy and Daddy were terribly sad to make the change because we've loved having Katherine so close to us at night, but Katherine was waking up increasingly often, and was clearly ready to move to her own space.

The transition went incredibly well for us. I'm always nervous to brag about how well a baby sleeps, because it seems to jinx it, but I want to commend Katherine on her wonderful sleeping. She cried a bit the first night, but now we just put her in her crib, give her a bunch of kisses, turn George's music on, and then we don't see her again until the morning! She also goes down for naps without crying, and has finally fallen into a regular routine. It is slightly challenging that we will now have to plan our days based on when she is due to nap, but we are all happier and better rested, so a little structure definitely won't hurt us!

Certainly there will be road bumps and nights that are long and exhausting, but we're happy with the changes we've made, and extremely blessed with such a wonderful baby!
